As part of the ‘Europe Calling!’ event, Agnès Monfret, Head of Unit ‘European Cross-Border Cooperation’ at the European Commission (DG REGIO), today paid a working visit to the Maastricht International Centre in Centre Céramique. During a tour of the Centre, Monfret had the opportunity to learn a great deal about the unique collaboration between Grensinfopunt Maastricht (‘Cross-border information point Maastricht’), Holland Expat Centre South Maastricht, ITEM, and Eurolab.
The breakfast following the tour involved a presentation on Eurolab’s working method and on the ‘City Deal’ between the Municipalities of Heerlen, Sittard-Geleen, and Maastricht. On the basis of concrete, case-based reasoning, Eurolab is striving to identify solutions to bottlenecks in cross-border collaboration activities in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. This focus has already accelerated the development of a cohesive, cross-border labour market and knowledge infrastructure in the Euregio.
Today, Monfret will also be attending the ITEM Annual Conference 2016 and will be paying a working visit to the Municipality of Vaals.
